 This week in BUS110, I learned some pretty neat stuff. I loved the worksheet we had where we discussed and planned for our worst-case scenarios in our entrepreneurship. I think that, although we may not like to talk about them a whole lot, we need to plan for them because chances are, one of them will happen. I thought a lot about how I can protect my business and my customers, and ways I can still serve them and the community. This week, I thought a lot about my own business and how well I a doing with spreading the word about it. So far, I am doing very well with advertising online. I have posted my business in many local Facebook pages in Medford and in Rexburg, where I will be living soon, and have cleaned up my pages to look very professional, clean, and easy to navigate. I have had a lot more success than I thought I would recently. I am focusing more on prioritizing the customer, so I have started doing weekly clothing releases.  This week in Intro to Entrepreneurship, I learned how to manage my time and prioritize important things. I started, well, resumed my business as well. I asked a couple of people whom I met on my mission who own their own thrift stores, and asked how they source their clothing. I talked with my friend, Travis, who owns Southern Fried Vintage in Oklahoma City, and learned a lot from him. I learned how to source clothing and where to find good stuff by myself as well. I'm very glad I have a background in buying and selling cars, so I know how to negotiate pretty well. This will prove useful when negotiating the prices of clothes. Travis also told me his story of how he started his business and gave me a few pointers, one of which stood out to me the most. He told me that it was a great idea to start my business online, as most people prefer shopping online anyway, but he told me that as I move my business to physical sales, to not forget about my online store.  This week's studies were great. I found Randy Pauch's last speech very interesting. I love how, at the beginning of his speech, he told the audience about his cancer, and upon telling them this, he asked if they thought he should be acting differently. I love that his mindset was so different than what most people who suffer from cancer would be. I strive to have the same mindset as him. Although I may not have cancer, obviously, I like how his mindset stayed positive even through the most trying times of his life. I think that dreaming is so important. I believe that you need to have dreams and goals in order to have a successful life. If you do not have dreams, then you have nothing to be successful in, just as with goals. My childhood dream has always been to help people; my father is my inspiration for this. My father has always helped anyone he can. We always make jokes that he doesn't know the word "no".     This week, I learned many things about the path I wish to take in my life, as well as many things I never knew about myself. As I start this first week of classes, I wrote many 'Icebreaker' entries, all of which I strived to make different than the last. I found this very enlightening because I don't regularly talk or write about myself. As I wrote these entries for my various classes, it revealed a plan to me that I had not previously known. I am currently majoring in Business Management and minoring in elementary education. I have always known I wanted to own my own business, and I have also always loved working with kids. I have interned for multiple elementary grade classes and am always a help in primary at church. In my free time, I love fashion. I have always loved to create my own clothing, simply starting from scratch or combining multiple pre-loved pieces and giving them a new life as one.
